After spending 7 ½ years on crutches, three spinal surgeries, almost becoming an amputee, a very long and tough road of medical procedures and physical therapy, and lots of encouragement and strong support from my mother, I regained my ability to walk. I have permanent nerve damage that causes chronic pain, and sometimes is totally debilitating, but I am determined to overcome this and follow my dreams.
On February 9th, 2012, I was injured. My foot was trapped under two-hundred pounds. That caused me to have nerve damage from my lower back to my toes. I’ve had three spinal surgeries and it took me 7 1/2 half years to walk again.
The years I spent unable to walk were some of the most challenging years of my life. I could not see a way out of my situation and my body just would not do what I wanted it to. Even though I am in constant pain, I put the pain on ‘back-burner’ and live my life.
During my recovery, the ambience of candles helped calm and center me. Certain perfumes made me feel beautiful, and helped awaken the woman deep inside me, who hid herself from the world behind blackout curtains.
I learned to create amazing flavors from my mother, and I inherited a keen sense of smell from my grandmother. This combination of talents allowed me to positively enhance what I learned and make my own special creations.
From a young age, I loved helping my mother use natural ingredients to produce personal care products. People who used them would often mention how much they loved that the products not only worked well but they smelled so good that they attracted positive attention and comments from the people around them. Being confined to the house during my years of recovery, I began to create the products myself and play with the scents I infused. From this, Sensual Captivation was born.
An entrepreneurial spirit has always been at my core. I am a people person and I make long lasting friendships easily, maybe because I truly care about the people in my life. This combination continually draws the right people into my life who support my vision.
I love what I do, so I move forward nervous but very excited for the bright future I see, as I enhance the lives of the people I meet and reach through these fragrances.
